You Don’t Have One Awakening—You Have Many. Here’s How To Survive The Intense Ones

Why You Keep Evolving (and Why It CAN Feel Like Chaos)
multiple awakenings

If you’re reading this, you’ve likely experienced an awakening yourself. Perhaps yours was sudden, or maybe it was a slow drip. Experiencing an awakening has become a finish line of sorts — a place we’re all trying to succeed in reaching.

Most awakenings the general masses hear about are the most sensationalized — which makes for a good story and more clicks. You know the ones: the person who one day starts seeing spirits everywhere and can’t turn it off. It’s always framed as, I was experiencing the world one way, and then it completely flipped in a blink into something totally different.

Society has a way of glamorizing awakenings that are quick and punchy — which makes sense given our fast-food / fast-fashion / fast-media culture.

In truth, there are many, many different journeys to enlightenment. Not all are cinematic. Not all happen on a remote island. Not all are the result of trauma. Some are a slow drip — a journey that can span years or even decades.

There’s no one right way to experience an awakening — only that when it happens, you’re vitally aware of it.

But what’s discussed even less is this:

It’s extremely common to have more than one awakening.

Why You Keep Evolving

As mentioned earlier, there’s this idea that awakening is the finish point to enlightenment. But actually, it’s far more common to experience multiple awakenings along the journey.

Every time I go through another level of awakening, it surprises me. Like — sure — I know logically there’s so much more my soul is ready to evolve into. But when it actually happens, it feels like stepping into an entirely new reality of being. And each time, the experience is more intense than the last.

What’s interesting to note here is that your dreams will also let you know whether you’re “spiritually awake” or not. So even if you’ve had one or a few awakenings, there may be more in store — and you only need to look as far as your dreams to discover that.

Each Awakening Has a Purpose

When your spirit is ready to evolve, there’s a reason.

  • You’ve stretched into new beliefs.
  • You’ve developed a stronger identity.
  • You’ve opened to more of your gifting.

And suddenly, it’s time to up-level.

Generally, with each subsequent awakening, there’s a paradigm shift — the veil of spiritual wisdom thins, spiritual expression becomes more integrated, and your soul is ready to receive more.

Often, using your spiritual gifts more deeply or developing a closer relationship with your woo-team can also trigger awakenings.

Symptoms of New Awakenings

Everyone’s experience will be different. So I’ll share what mine has been, as it’s likely to resonate.

For me, every awakening is more intense than the last. My spiritual gifts amplify. I feel deeply attuned to God and my woo-team. But at some point, it’s like my spirit has stayed in the ether too long — and my physical body starts to fizz.

For example, I’m clairaudient, which means I hear spirit. During my most recent awakening, the volume was turned way up. The voices were loud and nonstop. I couldn’t sleep — the conversations were intense and full-on.

I was having conversations with God in the middle of the night. I was healing people who had requested help (my healers like to wake me in the middle of the night or very early in the morning — around 4am — for healings). I could hear my spirit guides talking to each other — like eavesdropping on your parents’ dinner conversation. Some mundane, some interesting. I could hear my spiritual team talking with other spirits passing by. Some spirits would try to talk to me, too.

The conversations felt like they were bombarding me — especially at night when the world was quiet. I felt like a receiver for multiple radio stations at the same time. Or like sitting in a loud café, except instead of white noise, I was hearing every conversation at full volume all at once.

During the day, it was quieter because life itself is loud. I actually found refuge in that. But I was still experiencing far more psychic downloads than usual.

My physical body was fizzing, and it took a toll on my nervous system. I felt dysregulated and, at times, questioned my sanity. (I now have deep empathy for people who experience abrupt spiritual awakenings.) I craved better boundaries and more solitude.

What’s funny is when I tell this story to other spiritual people, they often think it sounds so cool. Like, yes — this is the level we’re all striving for.

But in reality, my spirit, soul, and physical body were going through an upgrade — down to a cellular level. My cells, spiritually and physically, were breaking down and rebuilding differently. It was extremely uncomfortable. This is a literal version of evolution — like the mutation from Neanderthal to modern human. Cells had to break down and rebuild into a new form. That rebuilding creates friction.

Awakening is the same. You’re deconstructing what was — and rebuilding something new.

If you’re in the middle of another awakening and finding yourself curious, surprised, or quietly trying to make sense of why this is happening again, you’re not alone in that experience.

What Helps (When Awakening Feels Intense)

Every awakening asks you to expand beyond who you were — and that can feel overwhelming. What helps most is anything that brings you back into your body and creates a sense of safety as your energy recalibrates.

A few simple anchors:

  • Grounding (anything that brings your energy down and back into your body)
  • Nervous system soothing (slow, controlled breathing; warmth; comfort; gentle movement; somatic shaking)
  • Rest (your energy and brain need downtime to integrate — this is often where boundaries become necessary)
  • Connection (with your guides, your journal, or someone who understands this path)

If you’re in the thick of it and your usual grounding tools aren’t cutting it, I wrote a full guide on advanced grounding during awakenings, upgrades, and big spiritual shifts — you can read it here:

For Those Experiencing It Again

Multiple awakenings are part of how growth actually works. They arrive as your capacity expands — your ability to perceive more, feel more, and hold more of your own magnificent spirit at once. Each one invites a deeper relationship with who you are becoming, not just who you’ve been.

Some awakenings feel expansive and luminous. Others feel more internal, more destabilizing, or harder to articulate. Often they move in waves — clarity followed by intensity; insight followed by integration. That rhythm is part of the process.

Awakening doesn’t always happen all at once. It reveals itself in layers, over time, as you’re ready to meet it. And each layer brings you closer to a fuller expression of yourself — your intuition, your gifts, your spirit.

You’re in an ongoing conversation with your own evolution. And that, in itself, is a powerful place to be.
