Summer’s Cosmic Pause: Where Release Ends and Creativity Begins
Summer is when you get slapped in the face – in the most exciting way – with the realization that the cycle of releasing everything from the year that’s no longer aligned or alive is complete. It comes to a conclusion so abrupt it actually stopped me mid-run, hit with the weight of what was happening. Like hitting pause while watching a metamorphosis but then realizing you’re the one who has completed the transformation.
Something about the sun, travel, swimming in the warm ocean, a relaxed schedule with the kids – that I realize I have no more f-cks to give about whatever things I’d been energetically moving away from and shedding.
Summer is a season when I gain perspective on what’s important and reorient to my true North. The coolest part is this process isn’t the sobbing-somatic-call-on-Christ experience. It’s literally being utterly done and, well, just neutrally not caring any longer.
Let me back up to that run I mentioned. My daily runs are a place of deep connection with spirit and higher self. It’s when all sorts of processing, downloads, conversations with spirit happen. During a particular run at the beginning of summer, I was revisiting some of the teachings, ideologies, ways of being, other people’s beliefs I carried that I had been slowly dissolving from earlier in the year and realized I simply did not care about them anymore. When I felt into that, it was like the energetic tethers to those things had completely dissolved. And instead I found something more rich, fulfilling and deeply exciting: inspiration, creativity and downloads like a mo-fo.
Then it occurred to me that I’ve been in this cycle of landing in completion before – every summer. Of having a solid answer for, “If this isn’t aligned, then what do I really think or what is my true experience or embodiment of xyz?” As the emergence of those answers start to grow, getting bigger and more established – poof! – those old things vanish. Even when I reach out to test if they’re still there swimming in my subconscious or conscious mind, they do not exist and have been fully replaced with what I now fully embody.
Now that the shedding is complete it’s like an energetic vacuum valve is released and the inspiration, downloads, creative ideas hit hard.
So that got me thinking about the energy of summer. There seems to be a gap in working within the seasonal energy of summer or really understanding what it is. So let’s dive in a little more and maybe on the other side of this you’ll have your own aha-moments and insights plus you may discover what f-cks you don’t give anymore too!
DOWNLOADS RIPE FOR RECEIVING
Summer is extremely “high energy.” Look, I get it if you’re like nope, nope, nope because you live somewhere that’s 100 degrees day-after-day and you just want to sit in the AC. But summer is high energy because there’s less need to manufacture motivation since the environment itself supports aliveness and momentum. The environment is literally beckoning all of us to come out and play!
Summer is also a time of creativity and is outward-moving. Meaning, you’re doing or focused on what is right in front of you. And because you’re traveling, exploring, seeing your environment in bright sunny light the inspiration and downloads swirl around ripe for the receiving. It’s when you’re being invited to nurture a creative spark vs poking or judging it. How many sand castles does one make in the pursuit of pure creation knowing full well the tide or a child will crush it shortly thereafter? Unlimited.
This creative flow is lived physically in the world – like building the sand castles. But the icing on the cake is when the inspiration lands such as an idea for a blog, an outfit that’s perfect for your next presentation, or an idea for a song lyric you’re writing. It’s this overflow from being out in summer during these long days that go from physical creativity to inspiration in other areas of lives.
COSMIC PAUSE
This is where it gets super juicy. The pause refers to when you look into the clear blue sky and the sun seems to “stand still” – like it’s been sitting in the same spot for hours. That pause is where you get to reflect on who you are today, where you started and establish a new equilibrium. This is the space when you realize you have completed the cycle of releasing – it is done.
It was in this pause that the heartbeat of who I am, what I believe, my perspective and lived embodiment becomes fully alive and expressed out into the world. All those f-cks I gave simply do not exist any longer within this pause making room for inspiration, creativity and downloads to finally have a place to land.
That’s the thing about summer – it hands you the creative spark inside the cosmic pause, and most of us don’t even notice (which is totally cool BTW). I’m still out on the same trail most mornings, or if I’m lucky swimming in the ocean, catching all those glorious downloads and inspirational whispers. But now, I’m not tripping over the old tethers.
Summer is the party after all the hard work you’ve done earlier in the year. ‘Cause who can give any f-cks when you have an ice cream in hand, sweat on your forehead and saltwater in your hair?
