How to Ground When You’re Spinning Out
Advanced grounding for awakenings, upgrades, belief shifts, and big life transitions

These are advanced methods for grounding when your regular grounding is no longer stabilizing you in specific situations. A baseline grounding is a must to have in place — but as you evolve, it may not temporary support you during intense times.
If you’ve been on the spiritual path for a hot second, you know that grounding is an important part of your spiritual health and ecosystem. It’s what anchors your physical and energetic body to the earth — it’s basically a stabilizer. A foundation. One that allows you to extend beyond the physical into the spiritual realms, all while being in this physical body.
But there are times when grounding — energetically grounding your energy to the earth, for example — isn’t enough to stabilize you.
Perhaps you’re going through an intense spiritual evolution or awakening. Or you’re dealing with deep uncertainty in your life, conflict, identity shifts, a reevaluation of beliefs, grief — anything that tilts you so much that your usual energy grounding just isn’t cutting it.
During these intense times, I always reach for my spiritual tools and my humanness (I’m sure you weren’t expecting me to say humanness, but hear me out).
The below provides tools and insights into how to get grounded when your normal methods don’t work.
Advanced grounding stabilizes you on four levels:
physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual — all at once.
Get Physical
When you can’t ground energetically, it’s usually because your energy is too high, too scattered, or too activated. So you have to ground through your body — the densest, most stabilizing part of you.
Your human body isn’t a limitation.
It’s grounding technology.
Use your “meat-suit” to your advantage to anchor into the earth. We’re in a human body having a human experience for a reason. Your soul chose this experience. Ground into it. Literally — ground into the earth:
- Take a walk on the beach barefoot and feel the sand and ocean water on your feet.
- If you have a young child, take them outside and play with them — undistracted, completely focused on play and connection.
- Move your body. Really work your body. Break a sweat. Sweat so hard your mind clears of all thoughts.
- Bake, make soup — literally chop wood and carry water. Preparing food, focusing on chopping vegetables, cooking, seasoning, or whipping a batter and baking anchors your life force into nourishment and community with those you share it with.
Disconnect
What I mean here is to disconnect from media, social media, and podcasts. This is not a time to go outward. This is not a time when your energy field can sustain the heft of the world or the collective consciousness.
Disconnecting is energetic boundary work. It gives your system breathing room to reorganize itself without interference.
Instead:
- Read a book — something soothing that brings you back to center, back into your body, not out of it.
- Write or journal. Spend time writing for yourself. This can look like written prayers, getting thoughts out, or shaking out your energy onto the page.
This process is powerful for reevaluation, allowing downloads and channeled messages to drop in while transmuting energy out.
Call Back Your Energy
During awakenings or periods of uncertainty, pieces of your energy scatter everywhere — to people, conversations, memories, timelines both near and far. Reclaim your energy so you can ground even deeper.
Spend a few minutes calling back your energy from anywhere and anyone you may have given it to. Visualize it returning to you as orbs or light and reabsorbing into your life force.
The second step is boundaries.
Now is not the time to subject yourself to drama or energy vampires. If that person calls — send it to voicemail. Take a break from anyone whose energy feels out of sync with yours. Just for this moment. You can return calls and texts in a few days.
Spiritual Tools
Your spiritual connection may be going through an overhaul during this time, which can feel disorienting. You may feel your connection to spirit is different — either amplified or at a whisper. Or it’s possible you’re not trusting your connection.
So get back to the basics. Lean back on physical spiritual tools:
- Dust off your oracle deck and flip a card. Trust what is said.
- Dig out your pendulum and ask it a question.
- Flip open a daily mantra or meditation book — where it lands is exactly what you need to hear in that moment.
- Get your crystals out and play with them. Hold them. Feel them. And if there’s a full moon nearby, give them a moon bath.
Final Word
Grounding during spiritual evolution or awakening can feel daunting — or more challenging than normal — but it’s also of the utmost importance.
You can stabilize yourself.
You can anchor your energy.
You can move through the intensity and come out more aligned, more awake, and more you.
Remember: your body is your greatest grounding tool of all. Use it.
And know that on the other side of this is bliss, peace, and a new level of resiliency that supports your now-upgrade.
