Ready to Activate Your Psychic Gifts? Stop Meditating and Try This 3-Page Practice Instead
From Pen to Portal: The Simple Writing Ritual That Opens Your Channel to Spirit
How to Activate Your Spiritual Gifts Through Journaling
If you’ve ever wondered how to activate your spiritual gifts without hours of meditation, this 3-page journaling practice is your shortcut back to alignment.
You don’t need a certification, a psychic lineage, or to meditate for hours.
You just need a pen.
One of the simplest ways to awaken your spiritual abilities is through daily writing.
And I’m not talking about the kind of fancy journaling meant for your future heirs to read someday.
I’m talking about raw, uncensored, totally mundane, stream-of-consciousness writing.
Three pages a day. Longhand.
Yes, longhand. It’s a workout for our soft, keyboard-typing hands — but it’s the best place to start.
Some people do have the spiritual ability of automatic writing or channeled writing. You can learn how to identify if you have this gift too! That said, everyone can use use daily journaling as a way to open their channel and connect deeper with their woo-team. Read:

It Started as College Homework
I first started this practice in my early 20s because it was assigned in art school.
We had to follow The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron — a book all about unblocking creativity. Each day, we were supposed to write three longhand pages called “Morning Pages.”

I’d sit there half-asleep, writing down whatever came into my head — which was usually some combination of I’m tired, I don’t know what to write, and what am I even doing with my life?
These pages weren’t meant to be Pulitzer Prize winners (thank God), because mine were mostly rambling thoughts and emotional purges. I thought I was doing it to unlock creative breakthroughs in my art. Turns out, I was unlocking something much deeper — something spiritual that’s stayed with me for decades.
After weeks — maybe even months — things started to shift.
It was like those thousand thoughts I’d been hauling around finally got cleared out of my brain and onto paper.
It felt like cleaning out a cluttered storage unit — all the junk, emotions, and half-finished ideas that had been sitting in the dark corners of my mind finally got unpacked.
Once everything was out, I could see the space I actually had to work with — a fresh canvas.
The Shift
One morning, after weeks of brain-dumping, something different happened.
I sat down at my desk — candle lit, espresso shot ready, journal open. This time, I didn’t just start rambling. I asked myself a question instead.
Just a simple one.
Then I paused, waiting for a word or sentence to come through so I could start writing.
My mind was totally blank. The self-censor that usually micromanaged my every thought was gone – because it couldn’t be bothered with such trivial writings at this point.
And then… I heard a word. So I wrote it down. Then I heard another, and another, and I kept writing. By the end, I had a full sentence — or maybe translated one — from a voice that didn’t feel like mine. It wasn’t the same voice that worries about what I’m wearing or replays yesterday’s awkward conversation. It was – not that.
It was like someone else had picked up the other end of a phone line I didn’t even realize I’d dialed.
That was the moment everything changed.
The writing wasn’t venting anymore. It was a conversation. A back-and-forth. Messages started coming through that were so clear. And eventually, I recognized who they were from: my angels, my higher self — and my dad, who had passed away years before.
Yeah. He started talking to me. And he was the easiest to identify because his energy was different then the others and I could hear more of his tone and personality.
To be clear, I didn’t tell anyone about this for a long time. I was in my late 20s, and honestly? It sounded completely insane. Who was I going to tell?
“Hey, my dead dad is giving me life advice through my journal”? Yeah, no.
But it kept happening. Every morning.
The more I showed up, the stronger the connection became. I asked all kinds of questions. Sometimes I’d sit completely still, waiting for an answer. Other times, if the message wasn’t clear, I’d just start writing — and somehow, the act of moving the pen activated the message.
It wasn’t forced. It wasn’t dramatic. It just… was.
Why This Practice Works
Looking back now, I can see exactly why this simple ritual opened my channel.
Writing longhand does something powerful — it slows you down and gets you out of your head. It quiets the logical brain and gives your intuitive self a turn at the microphone.
Every time you write without censoring yourself, you’re teaching your energy to go beyond the regular self-criticism or censor and just allow flow – whatever that is.
You don’t have to be psychic or “gifted.” Everyone has this ability.
We just have so much noise — to-do lists, doubts, inner critics — that we forget how to hear ourselves. And if we can’t hear ourselves then we’re certainly not hearing our angels or spirit guides.
Daily writing clears all of that.
It’s energetic housekeeping. Spiritual decluttering.
Once the static is gone, Spirit finally has room to speak.
How to Begin
Are you ready to start talking directly to your woo-team and/or loved ones? Are you ready to activate and start using this spiritual ability?
1. Pick a time.
Morning is ideal — before your logical mind wakes up and starts running the show. After I became mom though my writing times also shifted (I’m just keeping it real here). Being consistent is more important than time of day. Meaning, choose a time of day that’s calm and you can settle in to write three pages of longhand without toddlers screaming or demands being made.
2. Set the space.
Light a candle, pour tea, maybe hold a crystal. Make it feel sacred, but simple. As you begin to unravel your spiritual abilities ritual is by far one of the best ways to shift your energy into working with the non-physical.
3. Write three pages, longhand.
Let whatever’s in your head spill out. The random, the boring, the messy. Don’t edit. Don’t reread. Just move the pen.
4. Keep showing up.
At first, it’ll feel like nonsense. That’s okay. That phase is clearing the clutter so your intuitive voice can surface. I may take weeks, months or longer. Just write and write and write.
5. Ask questions.
Once you feel more clear, start asking things like:
- “What do I need to know today?”
- “What does my higher self want me to remember?”
Then listen.
Write whatever comes — even if it doesn’t make sense at first. There’s no expectation on what comes through. You literally could get a message that tells you to pet your dog more today.
6. Close with gratitude.
When you’re done, take a breath and thank your guides, higher self and blow out the candle.
The Connection
If you’ve been longing to connect with your higher self, your guides, or even loved ones on the other side — start here.
Three pages. Every morning. No filter. No rules.
Let the words tumble out until the noise clears. And when there’s finally stillness, listen.
That’s where the magic begins.
The page is your portal.
And it’s been waiting for you to pick up the pen.
